AD REFS - Why does my Ad Ref say PRV (Private) when my Ad is Trade (TRD)?
You can change the appearance of your ad to show Private or Trade but the Ad Ref assigned when the Ad was first created never changes.
ADVERTISING - CAN I ADVERTISE OUTSIDE MY LOCAL AREA?
Yes - When you create an ad you may choose a village, town, region or even a country in a Classification or Category of your choice
ANALYTICS - IMPRESSIONS SHOWING TWICE
In Analytics, why do the Impressions show twice when I've only clicked on an Ad Once?
Every time you see the ad is classed as an impression, so if you see an ad (Impression 1) and then click on it you must go BACK and the ad will show again (Impression 2)
AT LIMIT / LIVE (STATUS) - Why doesn't my ad show when the 'AT LIMIT' is shown in status?
To clearly show you that a CPC Ad (Cost Per Click) has reached its limit the status changes from LIVE to AT LIMIT. When a new day starts or you raise your limit the status will go back to LIVE.
CATEGORY SELECTIONS - I can't select a Category - why not?
(1) Check your internet connection is working OK (2) At times of high internet traffic, it may take several seconds for the Internet to recognise the Classification you selected and load the appropriate Categories and Sub Categories.
CONTACT - WHY CAN'T I CONTACT YOU BY TELEPHONE?
Offering a telephone service would increase the costs to you - We will answer any e-mails you send as soon as reasonably possible and we would request you include your phone number so we can contact you.
COST PER CLICK (CPC) - Why doesn't my Ad show as a premium ad after I've set my CPC settings to increase the amount? (Premium Ads = Light Yellow Background and ranked higher).
If the ad has already received a number of clicks for that ad day then it is possible your new limit does not meet set then the ad will not show as Premium (CPC) - You will
COUNTRY CHOICE - CHANGING COUNTRIES -
Why can't I change the country choice in Create An Ad ?
Certain Classifications limit the user to the country chosen at Registration and cannot be changed.
COUNTRY CHOICE - Why has the Country choice defaulted to a country that I do not live in?
Go into 'My Accounts > My Personal Details' and Check the Sign In country you have selected is correct.
CREATE AN AD - DROP DOWN BAR - Why does a drop down bar with previous text entries appear?
Your browser settings (Example Firefox, or Internet Explorer) can cache previous entries. You will need to interrogate your TOOLS > OPTIONS settings in your browser to clear entries. We are unable to give specific examples as all browsers use different settings.
CREATE AN AD - INFO BEING DELETED - Why does the information I have just filled in get deleted when I go back on the browser?
Avoid using your browser 'back arrow' facility - Instead use the site BACK arrow - The site has an autosave facility built into the BACK (and NEXT) arrows and will always save the information (If valid).
CREATE AN AD - PAGE INFO NOT SAVED - Why was the data not saved on the page I was on?
Autosave will ignore invalid and bad content and empty fields in order to protect the integrity of the data so as not to corrupt the information you have already entered.
CREATE AN AD - PAYMENTS - Why is my account debited by the daily amount immediately after creating an ad?
The daily charge applies for each day (or part of a day) that an ad is published, including the day it is created.
CREATE AN AD - STRANGE CHARACTERS - Why do strange characters appear when I publish my Ad?
(1) Each Internet Browser uses 1000's of different character interpretations - our library tries to capture the most obvious ones but changes in the browsers can fool our library and these strange characters appear. (2) If you cut and paste from a document or into the internet then strange charactercodes can be pasted with the text. To overcome the situation - Open up the Ad through My Account and Select Edit Ad then delete and retype your text - it should then save correctly
CREATE AN AD - UNDERLINE TEXT - Can I underline my text in an ad?
Yes, in some circumstances (Browser dependent) - Highlight your text and use CTRL U. This won't work in all cases, the site used to provide an Underline facility but found some browsers would disrupt the text and would show strange characters
HOW DOES DOODYADS MAKE MONEY?
Primarily through business advertising and applying a small charge to FREE Ads to place ads higher in the listings
IMAGE DELETIONS - Why could I not upload the same image I just deleted?
There may be a small lag until the image will be uploaded again - Wait a few seconds then try again
IMAGE UPLOADS - At what speed will my images upload?
There are many factors influencing this - The file type, the speed of your connection, the size of your image and the time of day that you upload when greater amount of on-line network traffic will slow down communications. As an example, typically, on a slow connection, the following speeds were recorded - 7 seconds for a 200KB image / 15 seconds for a 500KB image / 45 - 60 Seconds for a 2 MB image.
IMAGE UPLOADS - STOPS AT 100% - Why does the Image Upload progress Indicator occasionally stops at 100% and I have to Cancel the upload?
This can happen for several reasons - It sometimes happens if an image detail is corrupted, try opening the image in an independent image editor and saving as a different name - this sometimes works. More likely its because the speed of communications is slow (High Traffic Periods, Poor / Slow internet connections) and the image upload will time out before image creation is completed.
IMAGES - WRONG SIZE APPEARING - Why do some images appear very small and do not fill the image box? -
It is probably because you have used an image editor to modify your image (For example 'Paint' in Microsoft > Accessories) and saved the image as a smaller part of the whole background. Open the image editor again and ensure all the 'white space' around your image is cropped then save again and try.
IS DOODYADS DIFFERENT TO OTHER SITES?
We believe so - designed from the outset to offer local buying, selling and targetted advertising "local to you wherever you are" and generally for FREE or very low charging rates.
JAVASCRIPT (In Firefox and Iinternet Explorer) - The page tells me I need Javascript Enabled to sign in or view ads - How do I enable it?
Javascript is a programming language that is used to make web pages interactive; it is used by most web sites and is loaded and enabled on your PC by default. To enable it (1) In FIREFOX - On your browser toolbar (Top of screen) select TOOLS > OPTIONS > CONTENT > ENABLE JAVASCRIPT > OK. >> Then refresh your screen (F5) (2) In Internet Explorer - On your Browser Toolbar (Top Of Screen) TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > SECURITY > INTERNET (World image) > CUSTOM LEVEL > Scroll down to ACTIVE SCRIPTING (Near the bottom) > Select ENABLED > OK. >> Then refresh your screen (F5) [Note - If you can't see 'TOOLS' on your Toolbar then Right Click your mouse over the toolbar and select MENUBAR]
NO CREDIT DISPLAYED - Why do my CPC Ads show when 'No Credit' is showing in My Account?
If the 'Daily' charge amount is FREE then the site automatically displays your ads but only as a regular ad for a limited period until the Credit is topped up when they will again be boosted back to prime positions.
PASSWORDS REMEMBERED - The Firefox (Browser) remembers my User ID and Passwords, can I clear them?
YES - For Firefox (3.6.x), on the Browser Toolbar select Options > Security > Passwords
You now have 2 options - you can do either of the following or Both: -
Option 1 - Untick REMEMBER PASSWORDS FOR SITES (Won't remember Passswords for any sites)
Option 2 - Go into 'Saved Passwords' and a list of saved passwords will appear, either select REMOVE ALL or click on those you wish to remove and select REMOVE. Select 'Close' and 'OK'. (Please note - different versions of Firefox may require different selections)
PERSONAL ADS - Why isn't there a section devoted to Personal Ads?
Experience has shown that the nature of 'Adult' content sometimes included in Personal Ads does not meet the standards we expect of the site; it was therefore decided not to have a personal section
QUANTITY STATUS - Why does the Classification status bar give a quantity of ads but displays no private & Trade small ads available?
The Quantity Status refers to any ads including Commercial Ads within that Classification
REGISTERING - Why do I have to register to place Classified Ads?
(1) Unlike other sites you can Edit your Ads after they've been published but you can only do that if we know who you are to let you edit it. (2) To protect you in the event of a failed transaction then we can contact you (3) To track parties who choose to place abusive, immoral, illegal ads etc. - Your details will only ever be used by ourselves but may be given to lawful agencies (police etc) where infringements occur.
SIGN IN DUPLICATION - Why can I be signed in and signed out at same time on 2 different browser tabs - Is this correct?
This can happen and depends on your browser; particularly if you are using different browsers at the same time.
SUSPENDED ADS - Why do I have to 'manually' reinstate ads when I have run out of Credit?
There may only be enough credit to reinstate some of your ads and the site would not know which ads to select.
USERS (DUPLICATES) - Can I have a number of users on the same e-mail address?
YES - The site has been designed to allow family use and will allow multiple users on the same e-mail address and will understand the differences through different user ID's and passwords

The site owner, an Aerospace Engineer by trade for a global company, designed a Classified Ads site for the firms workers to advertise within the firm and to make money towards Charity. Doodyads was an extension of that idea.

People prefer to see before they buy and will look locally first but as a family we struggled to find a service offering this facility - so we designed our own!

Yes - It will concentrate on English speaking countries first and then expand into other non-english speaking countries.
YELLOW TEXT ENTRY BOXES - Why are some text entry boxes shown in yellow but do not require an input?
These boxes depend on the browser you are using and your local PC settings and and are typically only seen on some versions of IE6
